Joint Replacement and Revision Surgeries for Joint Pain
Joint replacement surgery, also called arthroplasty, involves removing the damaged portion of the hip or knee and replacing it with an artificial joint that allows for pain-free movement.
Revision knee replacement or revision hip replacement refers to the removal of an old, worn out joint replacement. The old implant is replaced by new components. Prior to undertaking this procedure, your physician must verify and prove that the old joint replacement is not infected. Infected total joints are not accepted for care. Revision surgery is more extensive and complex than a primary joint replacement. This will be discussed in detail with prospective patients after verification that the prior implant is not infected.
